
Desmond Hill - Clinical Manager. Des was the obvious choice for the re-launch of the Thames Clinic having worked at TTP in Luton for three and a half years and having gained substantial experience in the addiction counselling field. His chosen career has been to practice in the field of addiction due to his personal experience. He trained in Person Centered and Psychodynamic Counselling at The University of London (Birbeck College). The early part of his training was done at Addaction in Farringdon, London which is the UK’s largest drug and alcohol treatment charity.
His main aim is to assist the clients to fulfill their life’s potential on an abstinence basis, while ensuring that their stay at the Thames Clinic is both comfortable and secure.
Dale Conlon - Senior Admissions Counsellor. Due to his own experiences, Dale embarked on a vocation in the drug and alcohol field six years ago. He has worked in the UK, Europe and North America in both 12 step and non 12 step holistic and therapeutic based residential rehab units and medical detox units.
Dale joined the Thames Clinic, part of the TTP Group in January 2009. His role is to work directly with families and individuals from entering detox and during their stay in rehab. Dale is always available to answer any questions that you may have about our detox and rehab programmes.
Chris Simonite - Senior Admissions Counsellor. Chris embarked on a career in the Drug and Alcohol field owing to personal experiences of Drug and Alcohol related trauma. Having completed a CertHE at Sheffield Hallam University in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Drug and Alcohol Substance Misuse, Chris joined TTP to work in the admissions department, supporting individuals and families through the sometimes challenging task of entering into treatment.
Chris is available 7 days a week, at all times day and night to answer any questions that you might have about treatment.
Natalie Braidwood - Lead Nurse. Natalie qualified in 2001 as a psychiatric nurse (RMN) and spent several years working in the acute psychiatric environment before specialising in the field of addictions. Her knowledge and experience has been invaluable in the caring of clients going through the difficult process of detox, especially those with dual diagnosis. Her aims are to ensure that clients’ medical needs are taken care of throughout the detox period.
Sue Ryan - Senior Nurse. Sue qualified in 1983 as a psychiatric nurse (RMN) and for many years has worked with people who have mental health issues who quite often use drugs/alcohol as a coping mechanism. Sue has a real interest in the complexity of addiction and she aims to ensure that all clients detox safely in a caring, therapeutic and motivational environment in order to give them a good start on their road to recovery.
Holly Cooper - Office Manager. Holly is enthusiastic office manager, hard working support worker, with a few years experience in the sector. Holly previously worked with harm reduction in a methadone dispensary. She also worked with CARAT workers at High Down prison. Holly is currently studying health and social care. Her duties include facilitates meditation and gym sessions, escorted walks and recently started on administration duties.
Dev Matadeen - Nurse. Dev is an RMN with extensive experience in private and NHS sectors in mental health and substance misuse. Dev works nights at the Thames Clinic. He finds the work both challenging and interesting.
Fay Fenwick - Nurse. Fay rejoined us at Thames Clinic in July 2010. Fay qualified as a psychiatric nurse (RMN) in September 1998. She has worked in the field of acute mental health and addictions ever since qualifying. Immediately prior to joining us at Thames, Fay worked with adolescents suffering from serious and life-threatening eating disorders, she worked with both inpatients and outpatients as a specialist practitioner. Fay has undertaken a certificate in NLP and is currently studying for a diploma in CBT for addiction.
Gary Davidson - Counsellor. Gary works as a Recovery Coach at the Thames Clinic. He runs such groups as Big Book Studies, Process group as well as music and art therapy. He also has a broad knowledge of the 12 steps. Gary has an advanced diploma in Integrative Counselling.
Pietro Viglienghi - Support Worker. Pietro joined us in early 2010 and has extensive knowledge in substance misuse through his own personal experience. Pietro is on hand to provide support, understanding and empathy to vulnerable clients whilst going through their treatment; he also assists in motivational workshops.
Tania Donaldson - Support Worker. Tania is a fully qualified substance misuse worker with extensive experience in detoxification and rehabilitation. Tania is a dedicated professional who is a popular member of the team with excellent communication and organisation skills. Tania has worked in the prison service as a CARAT worker and has extensive knowledge in the field of addictions.
Nicolette Soutter - Night Support Worker. Nicolette has worked for the company for 2 years and is on hand to assist clients during their detoxification. She has vast experience in care work and has worked in hostels assisting clients with budgeting, welfare and benefits.
Paul Blair – In-house chef. Paul has a background of working in the catering industry for 13 years and his work has included hotels, gastro-pubs, members’ clubs, and City of London restaurants. Paul is very passionate about his role here and enjoys promoting a healthy and varied diet. Paul can enhance any nutritional requirements needed by specific clients.
