Here are some of the questions that people often ask about drug and alcohol treatment at Thames Clinic. If the answer to your question isn't here, just get in touch and we will respond, usually within 24 hours.

Q. How long does treatment take?
A. As each treatment plan is personal, the duration is flexible depending on individual needs, budgets and availability. As a guide, most people stay for between one and four weeks.

Q. Is visiting allowed?
A. Yes, we welcome visitors Monday - Saturday 5pm to 8pm and all day on Sunday.

Q. When do you admit clients?
A. We admit by appointment only. Admissions can be arranged 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Q. How long does it take to be admitted?
A. We can usually process applications and admit within 24 hours of our first contact with a potential client. We can sometimes admit immediately in emergencies.

Q. How are clients referred?
A. Clients can refer themselves for a free confidential assessment, after which they can move into the care planning stage if appropriate.

Q. I'm a vegetarian and have food allergies. Can you cater for that?
A. Yes we cater for a wide range of dietary needs.

Q. Do you tell employers or GPs when clients are admitted?
A. We promise discretion and confidentiality so we won't tell your employers - or anyone else about your treatment.

Q. Can I stay in contact with my work, friends and family while I'm there?
A. Yes. Visitors are welcome with your consent and we provide wifi and direct dial telephones in each room. Of course, if you want to take time out completely, we offer peaceful, comfortable and relaxing surroundings in which to do just that.
